I got bored last night, which means that I was looking for some excuse not to do any cleaning up around the house. I was in the mood to have a bit of human interaction, but not of the real-time variety. I just don’t really like being on the phone, cause I am a terrible multi-tasker. This means if I find myself on the phone or somewhat on IM, everything else in my life kinda gets put on hold until I’m done. I have tried doing both, but I end up entertwining the two, forgetting what I was doing, or agreeing to whatever it is that was said to me, sometimes with detrimental results. A recent conversation while I was trying to finish completing a task while chatting on the phone had me replying, “Well thats good” to a friend who was telling me about her being groped on the streets of New York.
Taking that into consideration I decided an email exchange would allow me the ability to get to know some people, while still leaving time for my tasks. Needing to be efficient, I decided that the best way to go about this was in a group setting, so that I can chat with multiple people all at the same time. This lead me to coming up with the idea for a 20 questions on craigslist post. The idea was simple. 20 people on a message board, each person asks a question and you all get to see what the other people respond. Maximum amount of interaction in the minimum amount of time.
Now, all I needed was 19 more people. How many people showed up? Well, I got 1 email requesting the address. Where is everyone’s sense of adventure, or willingness to try something new?
